BEHAVORIAL HEALTH TRANSITION ASSISTANCE

 

As of July 1, 2005, IBEW Local 18 has implemented Blue Cross' behavioral health care coverage, which replaced coverage previously offered through The Holman Group. Blue Cross' coverage offers complete open access to their network of behavioral health providers.

Transition assistance between Holman Group and Blue Cross' behavioral health is available as follows:

1) If a non-contracting provider accepts payment from Blue Cross, the length of time is based on the treatment plan submitted by the provider. If services have already been pre-authorized, the authorization will be good for the length of time up to a maximum of 180 days.

2) If a non-contracting provider does not accept Blue Cross' in-network benefit level, no Transition Assistance will be offered. HMO members will be financially responsible. For PPO members, no Transition Assistance will be offered. The provider will be considered out-of-network and the member may incur significant out-of-pockets expense.
